Shugetu Kato, a kinko-ryu shakuhachi performer and pipe maker in the Meiji period (?) I think its made.
The time of pipe making is unknown, but it is a good-looking bamboo material that has changed to a candy color, and it can be assumed that it has been carefully blown in from the reduction of the finger holes.
The lacquer in the tube shone like a mirror without peeling off, and it must have been exceptionally well maintained.
The cracks near the back hole are stopped by cherry blossom skin and there is no breath leakage.
明治期の琴古流尺八演奏家、製管師の加藤秋月(?)作かと思われます。
製管時期は不明ですが姿の良い竹材で飴色に変化し、指孔の減り具合から大切に吹き込まれてきたと推測できます。
管内の漆は剥がれもなく鏡面のように輝き、格別の手入れだったでしょう。
裏孔付近の割れは桜皮で止められ息漏れはありません。
特筆すべきは歌口で、現代管のように深くなく浅めでメリ音が楽に出ます。
甲音乙音とも艶があり深みのある音色は、三曲合奏や古典曲独奏また虚無僧曲を好む方に向くでしょう。
昨今流行の某尺八のように汚い爆音をビービー鳴らしたい方には不向きです。
